FAQ

Why not charge for events, hosts, or seats?

  • We want to incentivize, not punish, sending more data: the more data you send to Foam, the better your experience will be
  • We want your entire team to benefit from Foam: the fewer barriers to that, the better off you’ll be

What signals does Foam support ingestion for?

  • Distributed traces, logs, metrics, and errors across your services
  • Session replays, Web Vitals, and network activity in the browser
  • LLM and agent workloads: prompts, responses, token usage, and multi-step runs
  • Background jobs: workers, queues, and scheduled tasks

Do I need to uninstall other observability tools?

No. Foam runs alongside your existing tools, and during installation it verifies they keep working exactly as they do today.

How long does installation take?

2 to 5 hours for all your services, depending on complexity. It’s all hands-off: Foam opens PRs to provide full observability, then runs test traffic to verify every signal is captured and enriched.

What if I do not currently capture the logs or spans to answer a question?

Foam opens a PR adding the missing signals, and once deployed, it can always answer that question going forward.

Does it guarantee continuous coverage after installation?

Yes. Foam keeps monitoring your services after installation, searching for new gaps and proposing PRs to close them.

How is sensitive data redacted?

Our libraries redact out of the box: PII, API keys, secrets, and tokens are scrubbed by the instrumentation itself, before anything leaves your infrastructure or is stored. During installation, Foam additionally sets up redaction rules specific to your codebase.

Are you compliant?

Foam is SOC 2 Type 1 and GDPR compliant, with SOC 2 Type 2 and ISO 27001 in observation and HIPAA under review. Full details in our Trust Center.

How does Foam tie it all together?

A single identifier connects everything end to end, so every trace resolves to what it relates to:
  • The exact frontend click that started it
  • The slow database query behind a crashing checkout page
  • The agent run that burned tokens retrying a failing call
